INFORMATION REQUIRED FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Authors need to have the following information readily available when submitting an abstract

  1. Complete contact information for the presenting author including the research institution.
  2. Provide the abstract title in full for publishing.
  3. Submit the abstract text as plain text into a text box located in the online application.
  4. Please note, graphics and tables are not accepted in the abstract
  5. At least one of the authors must be registered at the conference. The maximum number of co-authors is 4.

 

The Abstract Review Committee of the Porto International Hip Meeting 2024 will not have access to any data that could identify the author/s. This ensures anonymity and impartiality in the review process. All submitted abstracts will be anonymized before being evaluated by the committee. The focus will solely be on the content and merit of the abstracts, without any influence from the identity of the authors. This approach helps maintain fairness and transparency in the selection of abstracts for presentation at the conference.

In the Best e-Poster award, the final score will be derived from the sum of evaluations from conference attendees (via the official conference app) and assessments from the evaluation committee as follows: 

Evaluation Committee: 80% 

Average ratings from conference attendees: 20%. 

GRADING CATEGORY

Will be based on the following criteria:

Scientific Merit (0 – 6)

Originality of project (0-2)

Clinical Usefulness (0-2)

The Evaluation Committee may, at its discretion, grant one or more honorable mentions. 

The decision of the Evaluation Committee is not open to discussion.

The award for the Best e-Poster will be presented during the gala dinner of the Porto International Hip Meeting 2024, scheduled for May 31st. Winners will be notified in advance and invited to attend the gala.

The work needs to bescheduled for7 minutes of presentation.Adiscussion of 10 minuteswill be held after each 6 presentations.

  • Speakers mustadhere strictly to the scheduled timesaccording to the programme.
  • Only computer projectionwill be available.No overhead or slide projectorswill be available in the meeting rooms, and it willnot be possible to use personal laptops.
  • Speakers are kindly requested touse PowerPoint Office(Windows or Mac) withslide size set as Widescreen 16:9. Presentations prepared with Keynote and Prezi can also be accepted but additional technical support might be required on-site. Authors in this situation should anticipate an earlier upload of the material at theSpeakers Preview Center. The uploading of DVD movies is NOT supported.
  • We recommendusing “.gif” and “.jpg” formats for images. Other types of extension are accepted but prior advice from our technical team on-site is required. Please send a detailed request toportohipunit@gmail.combefore preparing the presentation.
  • MPEG2 is the preferred format for embedded movies, but *.avi, *.wmv are also accepted. If Codecs are used, the Code package DivX in the current version should be chosen. This can be found atwww.divx.com.
  • Confirm thatall the necessary files are in theSAME FOLDERas your presentation.
  • Use large fonts(the minimum font size should be 18 points). If you cannot fit all your subjects on a slide without moving to a smaller font, break the points up onto separate slides.
  • The use of USB pens or memory sticks is advisable to upload presentations easily at theSpeakers Preview Centre.
  • Enclosure of a disclaimer at the bottom of the ending slide(Acknowledgment, Summary, or Question & Answer Session slide) is recommended. One of the following disclaimers should be stated in the presentation, depending on the situation of the authors:
    - The author declares that the research for and communication of this independent body of work does not constitute any financial or other conflict of interest.
    - The author declares that a conflict of interest exists in respect of this work owing to his/her duties as [position] for [company name], and the potential subsequent financial ties arising from this position (including payment for current or future research, ownership of stock and stock options, fees for advice or public speaking, consulting, service on advisory boards or for medical training companies, and receipt of patents or patents pending).

All Free Papers correctly validated will be included in the scientific programme of the Porto International Hip Meeting 2024.

Electronic material for presentations is uploaded directly at the congress venue, at theSpeaker Preview Centreon the following schedule:

  • Thursday May 31, 2024– from 10:00 to 16:00
  • Friday June 1, 2024– from 09:00 to 11:00

Technical assistance will be providedand material can be edited/updated at working stations on-site.

If you are giving more than one speech during the Congress, you may upload all your presentations at the same time and they will be sent to the corresponding session hall at the time of your session.

    2. e-Poster Language: e-Poster should be prepared and delivered in English, the official language of the conference. This ensures effective communication and understanding among attendees from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

    5. Review and Evaluation: All e-Poster will be reviewed and evaluated by the scientific committee members based on criteria such as content quality, clarity, relevance, and adherence to time limits.

       

    6. Publication: Selected e-Poster may be considered for publication in conference proceedings or affiliated journals, subject to review and approval by the editorial board.

       

      The author/s of the e-Poster are responsible for maintaining and respecting the integrity and anonymity of any potential patients depicted in the e-poster. It is not permitted for patients to be depicted in a manner that reveals their identity or includes any details that could lead to their identification without prior written authorization from the patient. If this is the case, the author must send a copy of the authorization to the Secretariat of the Porto International Hip Meeting 2024.
